Laura Evans becomes regional BSI Student Representative
The newly created position of an Early Career Representative for the regional BSI group has been taken by Laura Evans, a second year i3-IRG student working with Mari Nowell and Anwen Williams.
As the British Society for Immunology is keen to encourage PhD students and postdocs to become more involved in their activities, three Early Career Representatives now sit on the BSI Forum, the society’s new ‘think tank’.
As regional contact person for student- and postdoc-related issues and as liaison with the Early Career Representatives on the BSI Forum, Laura Evans has joined the executive committee of the South Wales Immunology Group.
The South Wales Immunology Group has set a small part of their budget aside and specifically dedicated it to facilitate the organisation of events or resources of interest to students and early postdocs.
One of Laura’s first tasks will be to help developing an official Facebook profile for the British Society for Immunology, which will provide relevant information such as vacancies and events, host discussion forums about techniques or reagents, and in general act as a social platform for people sharing common interests.
