Excellence in Teaching Awards 2012: Nominations open

Each year the School of Medicine recognises members of staff in the University and in the NHS who have provided excellent teaching or support for undergraduate, postgraduate and research students.

Awards will be made at the annual ‘Student Achievement Celebration’ on Friday November 23rd 2012 and some award winners will be submitted for the ‘All Wales Clinical Teacher' awards organised by the BMA.

The closing date is September 16th 2012.

You are very welcome to nominate more than one person or make a nomination for more than one award but please complete a separate online form each time so that your nominations are judged separately.

Nomination Guidelines

The School of Medicine’s Excellence in Teaching Awards recognise those who achieve teaching excellence in a number of areas.

Awards are made each academic year. Individual awards are available to staff in the Schools of Medicine and Biosciences and NHS staff who teach / support medical students or postgraduate students.

Each award is to be used either for personal development or to fund teaching development activities.

Nominations should be made before 16th September 2012 and will be considered by a panel including senior staff within the School of Medicine, one postgraduate and one undergraduate student. The panel will be chaired by the Dean of Medical Education, or a nominee. The decision of the panel will be final. The panel may withhold an award if, in its judgement, there is no candidate who reaches an appropriate level of excellence.
