Cardiff student chairs 'Bright Sparks' session at European Congress

Infection & Immunity PhD student Martin Davey has been chosen to co-chair the prestigious 'Bright Sparks in Immunology' session at the European Congress of Immunology held in Glasgow 5-8 September 2012.

Martin Davey is a 3rd year PhD student at the Cardiff Institute of Infection and Immunity at the School of Medicine and is supervised by Dr Matthias Eberl and Prof Bernhard Moser.

After winning the top prize for the best oral presentation in the prestigious 'Bright Sparks in Immunology' session at the BSI Congress in Liverpool 2011, Martin has now the honourable task to act as chair person on a European level.

The 'Bright Sparks in Immunology' session is organised under the motto ‘by PhDs for PhDs’. From all PhD students attending this year's European Congress of Immunology, 12 candidates will be shortlisted to present their current research and compete for attractive prizes.

The best presenters, as decided by a panel of judges, will be awarded cash prizes and designated the ECI’s ‘Bright Sparks in Immunology’ for 2012, and the overall winner will be given the opportunity to give their presentation in one of the meeting’s plenary sessions.

The ECI 2012 will be held at the Scottish Exhibition & Conference Centre (SECC) in Glasgow from 5-8 September 2012.
