Annual Summer School in Brain Disorder Research

The Cardiff MRC Centre for Neuropsychiatric Genetics and Genomics Annual Summer School in Brain Disorder Research.

The School is aimed at clinical trainees (FY1 - ST2) and non-clinical scientists (MSc, PhD, Post Doc) who are interested in moving into the field of Neuropsychiatric Genetics and Genomics or those who want an introduction to cutting edge research in brain diseases.

A variety of paradigms will be introduced including epidemiology, neuroimaging, molecular biology and genetics.

Via lectures, interactive sessions and informal discussion participants will gain an appreciation of a range of exciting approaches to the study of brain disorders and the opportunities available to pursue a career in research.

The Faculty consists of many world leaders in their field and will include: Professor Mike Owen, Professor Nick Craddock, Professor Anita Thapar, Dr Stan Zammit, Dr Ian Jones, Dr George Kirov, Dr Nigel Williams, Professor Peter Holmans, Dr Anthony Isles, Dr Hollie Thomas and Professor Laurence Wilkinson. In addition, current fellows and PhD students in the department will provide formal and informal mentorship to those attending.
