MRC Centre for Neuropsychiatric Genetics and Genomics

The School is aimed at clinical trainees (FY1 - ST2) and non-clinical scientists (MSc, PhD, Post Doc) who are interested in moving into the field of Neuropsychiatric Genetics and Genomics or those who want an introduction to cutting edge research in brain diseases.

A variety of paradigms will be introduced including epidemiology, neuroimaging, molecular biology and genetics.

Via lectures, interactive sessions and informal discussion participants will gain an appreciation of a range of exciting approaches to the study of brain disorders and the opportunities available to pursue a career in research.

Participation is limited to 30 attendees and places will be allocated competitively.

If you are successfully awarded a place there will be a fee of £150 to attend the school. This fee is heavily subsidised by generous funding from the MRC and WORD.

The fee will cover:

• Full course attendance
• 3 nights B&B accomodation at a central Cardiff hotel
• Taxi transportation between the hotel and the Henry Wellcome Building
• Daily refreshments
• Buffet Lunch on the Tuesday and Wednesday
• An evening buffet / networking event

A discounted fee will be available for those who live locally and do not require accomodation.

We are keen that no-one is prevented from attending the school because of lack of funding and so a small number of full bursaries will be available to cover the registration fee, accommodation and reasonable travel expenses to those awarded a place. Bursaries will be awarded competitively and according to need.
