Innovation & Engagement

The School of Medicine has made a significant commitment to the development of Innovation and Engagement.  Within the UK and internationally the potential benefits of Innovation and Engagement activities for academic institutions and individuals engaged in this activity is gaining merit.

Simple Definitions

Innovation - the development of competitive innovative products and services, stemming from research, learning & teaching and clinical activity.

Engagement - dialogue between an academic specialist and non-specialist in that particular field (be they an academic or not).

As a first priority for 2010, the recently expanded I&E team is embarking on an scoping exercise, using an online questionnaire and follow up interviews to attain records of current levels of I&E activity.  This will then in turn enable the effective measurement of future levels of I&E performance within the school.
