Research opportunities
Research at the MRC Centre is organized around five broad themes.
Throughout the year we have a variety of research opportunities available. These include PhD Studentships, the Clinical Academic Mentorship Scheme and the Summer School.
PhD Studentship Opportunities
Exciting opportunities are available each year to enter our successful PhD programme that encompasses all areas of basic and clinical research within the Centre. We currently have 34 registered PhD students and have an excellent track record of successful completion of theses.
Clinical Academic Mentorship Scheme
The MRC Centre runs an exciting new Clinical Academic Mentorship Scheme for clinical trainees planning an academic career. The scheme provides mentorship and financial support enabling Fellows to apply for externally funded fellowships including the Wales-Clinical Academic Training Scheme and training fellowships from the MRC and the Wellcome Trust.
Cardiff Summer School
The MRC Centre runs an annual Summer School in Brain Disorders Research at Cardiff University. The School is aimed at clinical trainees, particularly those in the early stages of their career, and non-clinical scientists including those thinking about pursuing a higher degree, those working in other scientific areas who are interested in moving into this field and anyone who wants an introduction to cutting edge research in brain diseases.
