HPV Research Group

The Cardiff HPV Research Group was established in 2002 following the appointment of Prof Alison Fiander as Chair of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Cardiff. The group comprises a mix of clinical and scientific staff. The aim of our research is to improve clinical management of HPV associated disease through increased understanding of HPV epidemiology and molecular biology.

Members of the HPV Research Group are part of the Institute of Primary Care & Public Health, Institute of Cancer & Genetics and Cardiff Institute of Infection & Immunity.

Work within the HPV Research Group is supported by: Cancer Research Wales, Welsh Assembly Government (WAG), Cervical Screening Wales and Cancer Research UK (CRUK)

Mission

The mission of the HPV Research Team is to undertake excellent innovative research, to improve human health through greater understanding of the biology of HPV associated cancer and to provide a supportive learning environment for all team members.
